Swissquote warns of phishing campaign targeting its clients

Switzerland-based online trading company Swissquote has issued a warning to its clients regarding phishing attempts.

In an announcement distributed via social networks, Swissquote says:

“Be on the lookout: A phishing campaign is currently targeting our users, and we have taken steps to remove any known fraudulent domains used by the attacker”.

Phishing is an attack that attempts to steal an individual’s money, or identity, by getting the individual to reveal personal information. A phishing attack may seek illegal access to credit card numbers, bank information, or passwords, via websites that pretend to be legitimate.

Clone websites usually abuse the data of authorized businesses in order to lure investors. That is why, it is vital that you check the identity of the website you are visiting and do not click on random links.

Back in 2020, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) issued a warning regarding a clone website of Swissquote, which has been targeting retail traders in the UK.

The website, at swissquotes.de, is actually for a firm calling itself “Swissquotes” (i.e., with an added “s” at the end). It has nothing to do with the real Swissquote.
